Dinner and Dessert
Met up with cool Jules tonight for a bit to eat. We went to 51 Lincoln in Newton Highlands www.51lincolnnewton.com It was fun to catch up without having kids asking us questions in the background (why do they always ask questions when you are on the phone???). I convinced Jules to go to another place for dessert, as I thought there was an ice cream place around the corner... We had a nice little walk and did not find the mystery ice cream place - where was I thinking I was for Pete's sake. Oh well, we'll have to look at it as saving some calories :)

Anyone know how to use jumper cables - seriously?
Saturday, Samantha and I were heading to Jenn's house for a cookout. Sam was buckled in, pjs were packed and beer/wine was in the cooler...... can't find keys in purse.....oh, I left keys in ignition all night (talk about blonde moments)....hmmmm, car doesn't start - might be due to the fact that I left the keys in the "on" position, draining the battery..... what a rookie move..... I call Jenn and ask if she has any jumper cables... she heads on over and for the next 20 minutes we try to figure out how to use them - we called Carlos (who was trying to tell us how over the phone), we read the instructions at least a 1000 times, finally my neighbor (who came home between the time I called Jenn and Jenn arriving) came stomping down the stairs saying "he couldn't handle watching anymore" and helped us start my car. I took him literally 5 seconds and it started.... Jenn said convincingly to Anthony "seriously, we would have done it eventually." THANKS ANTHONY for your help as I believe we would still be debating about the "how to". After all, it is potentially explosive to use jumper cables....
One last play date and and off they go...
Big hugs and safe travels to Amy, Brian, Maeve and Cara as they leave Massachusetts to begin a new chapter in their lives. The residents of Jupiter, Florida will be lucky to call you neighbor. Keep in touch! We'll miss you...

Family Cookout
Saturday we had a family cookout to wish Wally, Dee, Shanna, Sierra and Wallace bon voyage as they journey to Guam for the next three years!!!!! It was great to see family and friends and celebrate with them. It was a hot one to say the least, but we all had a great time! A day on the farm (sort of)
Samantha and I took Thursday off work/school and met Sonja, Wyatt and Libby at Davis' Farmland in Sterling, Massachusetts (http://www.davisfarmland.com/). We had the best time. Samantha and Wyatt brushed bunnies and fed the kids (young goats). At first I didn't think Sam would feed the goats, but she really got into it. We also checked out some young cattle (they were taller than Samantha) and one gave her the wettest lick ever - did anyone know that cattle have huge scratchy tongues!!!! I went over the edge with anti-bacterial spray, but Sam just laughed :) We took a hay ride around the farm which was home to lama, goats, cattle and believe it or not a reptile house which had tree frogs, turtles and snakes.... Sam is braver than I at this age and she touched/poked every animal going.... The other side of Davis' Farmland was a sprinkler park where Sam chased Wyatt all over the place and Libby didn't the mind the spray in her face (she's too cute). It was a great day and even nicer to catch up with Sonja.

Happy 4th of July!!!
What a whirlwind weekend! I made it an extended weekend by taking off Thursday and headed to the beach with Jenn, Ashley, Jenna, Carlos and Samantha - another stellar beach day! Here are some photos: http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=2QcsW7lo2YsVk&emid=sharview&linkid=link5
For the 4th, Sam and I went to the beach in the afternoon for a Beach Party, although not the best beach weather it was fun to hang out when the beach was basically empty except for the party-goers...there was volleyball, boccie and lots of food - Sam just wanted to go swimming so we went swimming - a tad cold! Samantha and I also headed to the Wakefield Parade where we marched to the marching bands, and waved at the floats....Sam passed out cold at 7:20 and missed the fireworks, but it was a great 4th.
Saturday we went to John and Sarah's for a going away party for Amy, Brian, Maeve and Cara. They are moving on the 21st to Jupiter, Florida. We will miss you guys!
Sunday, Samantha and I headed over to Auntie Sue's house for a post 4th cookout. Ellie and Rob took their family to Las Vegas and sent all the left over food to us - Thank you Ellie!!!! Margaritas and BBQ - a great way to finish the long weekend!!
